Operational management & control
Operational management and control is an effective means of creating a clear overview and managing the increasing complexity of the task portfolio, requirements and service levels. It often implies a redefinition of the management role so that the manager becomes closer to the resolution of the task. Furthermore, it is vital that a viable structure is built around each manager such that there is space for him or her to work and exercise control and improvements. At the same time, the manager must be asked to provide results and initiatives for improvement.
Operational management and control will be of relevance to organisations that experience potential for:
- strong leadership ability with respect to gaining oversight of capacity and objectives management
- going from the ad hoc quick fix approach to a systematised, prioritised resolution of problems whereby employees and organisation are engaged and committed
- creating visibility and community with respect to results, problems and solutions.
